Today, students planted seeds for the greenhouse. The seeds ranged from various types of lettuce, broccoli, kale, Swiss chard and sunflowers ( they will be a cheap Mother's Day present in a couple months :). For those waiting desparately for the follow- up sprouting pictures, you'll have to wait till after spring break.

Grade 8's had extra pizza dough to come up with their own creation. The students had one hour to create and present their masterpiece. Mr. McCallum took the name of 'chef' for the day and the students made everything from calzones to crazy bread to sweet desert pizza. At the end of 60 minutes, the hands went up and the judges deicded on who was the winner of IRon Chef Tamanawis. Making bread sticks can get a little boring, so the students got a chance to be creative with some of the extra dough. Their was bragging rights on the line for the best creation. There was no favouritism for making a 'm' for mccallum but I forgot to take a picture of most of the creations....sorry:)
Each group made a different dip today to go with their pita that was coming hot out of the oven. Dips included hummus, guacomole, tzatziki, confetti and low fat spinach dip. After the vote at the end of class, it seemed that there was no true winner between the dips. As a lot of cooking goes, each to their own or variety is the spice of life.
Students got a chance to make pizza with any toppings they wanted and had the chance to make thin crust, regular or stuffed crust. They used the panago dough recipe except added whole wheat flour and had the option of adding different herbs into the dough.
