This morning we made smoothies. Don't let the picture food you ( I added it last minute as I forgot to take a pic during the lab ;). The smoothie were all natural with no added sugars and low fat yoghurt. Afterwards, students researched why kale is considered a super food and why it is the only vegetable that can grow year round in he lower mainland. We also looked at the health benefits of flax seed. And yes, a majority of students enjoyed them! Healthy dips were on order in today's class. We made six different ones and four, I would consider healthy. Guacamole, salsa, hummus, and low fat tzatziki were combined with spinach/artichoke dip and a confetti dip to give students a varied sample that they could make at home. The salsa was a favourite as we added a habenero pepper to give it some extra kick! Foods 9/10 started the breakfast programme. This morning was Crepes. Students received a recipe from the internet and looked at the reviews to determine if they needed to change anything on the recipe. Students got a chance to make mini-buns just in time for the weekend. It's good to see so many of my students practicing their new skills at home! The belts have been made and handed out for the first contest of the new semester. Here are some of the winners! |
